So here are today's Angelina Jolie adoption betting odds – for Nigeria and Mexico – with help from Paddy Power…

Nigeria – Do a quick online search for Nigeria and you'll be in for a grim ride. Muslim students killing their teacher. Kidnapped foreign workers. Capital punishment. Looting. Widespread corruption. Poverty. These are things that happen every day in Nigeria, so you'd think that Angelina Jolie would be champing at the bit to rush over there and adopt a baby. We're not so sure though. Madonna's really done the whole 'African adoption' thing to death lately and, anyway, isn't Nigeria a bit – you know – obvious? Angelina Jolie likes to be different and cool, and maybe there's a suffering African country that's like Nigeria but a bit more – you know – boutique. Angelina Jolie would probably prefer to adopt someone from there. Current Angelina Jolie adoption betting odds – 10/1

Mexico – Now, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are famed for travelling the world, playing their magical flute to lure children out of caves and then stuffing them into a bag and adopting them. But sometimes you can just imagine that Angelina Jolie gets really tired of globetrotting. "Go to Vietnam to adopt a child?" we can imagine Angelina wailing into her clenched fists, "But Vietnam is effing MILES away!" Perhaps if this happens – Angelina Jolie feels the need to adopt a foreign baby by just feels a bit lazy generally – she could nip down to Mexico and grab a child there. It's not far to travel and, if Angelina has a net with a ling enough handle, she wouldn't even need to leave America.

lady gaga meat dress

Lady Gaga Meat Dress Was Explained by Gaga Herself- Lady Gaga appeared in an amazing more than 50-pound meat dress at the recently held 2010 MTV Music Awards.

Initially, her meat dress outfit received criticisms from the animal rights advocacy group, PETA. PETA already released an official statement condemning Lady Gaga’s meat dress:

“Meat is the decomposing flesh of a tormented animal who didn’t want to die, and after a few hours under the TV lights, it would smell like the rotting flesh it is and likely be crawling in maggots — not too attractive, really,” said PETA in their statement.

Franc Fernnandez was the one who designed Lady Gaga’s meat dress. He also designed Lady Gaga’s diamond headpiece in the video for “Bad Romance,” which picked up seven of the singer’s eight VMA wins last night. When asked what was his inspiration in making the meat dress of Lady Gaga, Franc Fernandez said that he was contacted by Lady Gaga’s stylist Nicola Formichetti and was told to make a meat dress.

eems Lady Gaga really did show us the beef Sunday night at the 2010 Video Music Awards. Her third dress of the night was made of "real meat from my family butcher," designer Franc Fernandez told MTV Style on Monday.

Check out what the ensemble looks like draped on a mannequin at Fernandez's blog, where there's also a close-up of the coordinating crystal-encrusted meat purse, and let us know what you think, in our meat-dress poll.

If you're in the mood for the fast-food version of the story instead of partaking in that sit-down meal, click on past the break below for a shot of the backside of the dress -- it looks as if someone may have grabbed fixings for a sandwich before Gaga took the stage -- and a detail of presenter Cher clutching the meat purse while the younger pop star accepted her Moonman.

Cher, a singer who has been also known for her non-traditional style presented Lady Gaga’s Best Video Award. Gaga even quipped that she never imagined herself asking Cher to hold her meat purse. Lady Gaga also took the chance to announce—and amaze her multitude of fans—her next album entitled “Born This Way.”

Even though Lady Gaga is known for her non-normal fashion taste, she admits that the meat dress was a indeed a bit of a fashion risk. At first glance from afar, the dress would seem to be just a plain, ragged one, but when she said that line to Cher with the mention of “meat purse” on it, people realized what she was actually wearing. And for those who have been following the artist’s career, it may be remembered that she once wore a meat bikini for a Japanese magazine.

Lady Gaga is just one woman who would never fail to surprise the world.

As the singer/song writer known for her outrageous fashion ensembles walked up the stage of the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, she sported a get-up that could have raised the brows of animal rights activists—a dress, a pair of boots and head dress that resembled pieces of raw meat.

Lady Gaga's outfit made of meat continues to be the talk of the music world in the wake of the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards (which also saw the singer stand up against "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," wear one of Alexander McQueen's final designs, reveal her new album title and win eight awards, including Video of the Year). In fact, it has become such a phenomenon that we are absolutely certain that the outfit will become this Halloween season's biggest meme. With Halloween candy already eerily occupying shelves in drug stores throughout America, we predict the meat dress to have a Halloween presence similar to the way everybody went as the Joker in 2008 (following Heath Ledger's memorable performance in "The Dark Knight").

Patel is the daughter of Amit Patel and Asha Patel, sister of Ashmit Patel and the granddaughter of the famous lawyer-politician Barrister Rajni Patel who was the Congress Pradesh Committee President of Bombay. She was born in the Breach Candy Hospital in Bombay and is a trained Bharatnatyam dancer since the age of five.[2] Her birth name is a blend of the first three letters of her father's name Amit and the last three letters of her mother's name Asha.
She studied at the Cathedral and John Connon School in Bombay and was head girl for the academic year 1992–1993 before heading overseas to study Economics at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts.
Patel's career began as an economic analyst at Khandwala Securities Limited after graduation. Later on, she received an offer from Morgan Stanley but turned it down. After returning to India, she joined Satyadev Dubey's theatre group and acted in plays, including an Urdu language play titled Neelam (1999) that was written by Tanveer Khan,[3] upon receiving permission from her conservative parents. Patel as the Muslim girl Sakeena in Gadar: Ek Prem Katha (2001).
In her second film, the Telugu language drama Badri, she starred opposite Pawan Kalyan. The film was a major success, grossing more than Rs 120 million in India.
2001 saw her appearing in Anil Sharma's cross-border romance, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, alongside Sunny Deol. Patel signed on much before she shot into the limelight with Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai and was among 22 girls that were screen-tested from 500 girls who came to audition for the film. Patel had gone through a 12-hour audition before she got the part The film went on to become the top-grossing film of the year, as well as the biggest hit of the 21st century, earning Rs 973 million in India. Set during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1947, it featured Patel as Sakeena, a Muslim girl who finds refuge in Deol's house during the riots, and subsequently falls for him. Her performance was praised, and won her the Filmfare Special Performance Award, as well as nominations for Best Actress at various award ceremonies. Taran Adarsh of IndiaFM concluded, "Despite being one-film-old, Amisha Patel deserves full marks for handling the complex role with elegance. She looks the character she is portraying and impresses with a natural performance." The film was perceived as being excessively anti-Pakistani.
These successes were followed by a series of films that flopped at the box-office. In Yeh Zindagi Ka Safar (2001), she played a successful singer who was abandoned by her mother at the time of her birth.
In 2002, Patel had four continuous failures but her last release, Humraaz, became one of the highest grossing films of the year at the box office, and her performance earned her a nomination for Filmfare Best Actress Award. The Abbas-Mustan marital thriller saw her playing a character with negative shades for the first time. She played the girlfriend of Akshaye Khanna, who marries Bobby Deol to grab his wealth – but, seeing Bobby's honesty, her character surrenders to him. Taran Adarsh commented, "Amisha Patel is just about okay as Akshaye's lover (first half), but splendid as Bobby's wife (second half). This performance should silence her detractors for sure. Also, she's looked her best with admirable outfits and perfect make-up.

Patel's first opportunity for acting came in the form of an offer from her father's schoolmate, Rakesh Roshan, to star opposite his son, Hrithik Roshan, in Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai (2000). The offer came immediately after she graduated from high school but she refused the project because she wanted to continue her education in USA.[4] Afterward, Kareena Kapoor replaced her but luckily, Kapoor backed out after shooting for a couple of days and Patel was given the opportunity once again during a family lunch.[5] Patel readily agreed to do the project this time. The role of an exuberant college girl in love, undergoing a tortuous time at losing her lover and rediscovering a more mature relationship gave Patel scope to perform. The film was a smashing success and established Patel as a rising star, earning her awards for Best Debut at a number of award ceremonies.

Shahrukh Khan's Paheli is India's entry to Oscars

The Hindi feature film Paheli directed by Amol Palekar has been selected as India's entry in the foreign films category at the Oscars. A 10-member jury, headed by noted filmmaker Vinod Pandey, made the selection after week-long deliberations, Secretary of Film Federation of India Supran Sena said.

"I'm happy at the nomination of the film for the Oscars", said Palekar in Pune. The film is produced by actor Shah Rukh Khan who also plays the lead role in it. Rani Mukherjee is the other key actor in the movie.

Asked if he would go for lobbying which plays an important role in mobilising opinion in favour of a film at the Oscars, the director "it is not the lobbying but the subject matter of the film which is important."

Paheli beat 14 other films including Swades, Veer-Zaara, Black, Parineeta, Page 3, Iqbal, Mangal Pandey and Marathi film Uttarayan for the nomination, Sena said.

Paheli, which, according to Palekar deals with a "woman's right to make a choice", is a love story set in the picturesque locales of Rajasthan.

Paheli is based on the novel by leading Rajasthani writer Vijaydan Detha and the same book was reproduced on the celluloid by Mani Kaul several years back.

Palekar said when he narrated the script of Paheli to Shah Rukh, he liked it so much that he offered to produce it.

He said Shah Rukh is an "able producer" and "everything depends on him how he handles things in the run up to the Oscars.

The director said he and Shah Rukh would sit together and frame the strategy.

Ashutosh Gowariker's Lagaan starring Aamir Khan and Marathi film Shwaas were nominated for Oscars in the last few years but missed the eventual glory.

According to Palekar, Paheli, which also features Anupam Kher, Naseeruddin Shah, Juhi Chawla, Suniel Shetty and Amitabh Bachchan, was completed in only 47 days.

Marathi film Shwaas, which was India's entry to the Oscars in 2004, could not live up to the hype generated.

Some of the earlier entries in the last few years include the Aamir Khan-starrer Lagaan, directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Devdas.

The following have been some of India's entries to the Oscars over the years: Mehboob Khan's Mother India (1957), Guru Dutt's Sahib Biwi aur Ghulam (1963), Shyam Benegal's Ankur (1974) and Manthan (1978), Mahesh Bhatt's Saransh (1985).

Interestingly, directors of three of the last four Indian entries for the Oscars are from Maharashtra from where late Dadasaheb Phalke, pioneer of the Indian film industry hailed.

Shahrukh Khan BIOGRAPHY

There are a lot of qualities Shah Rukh Khan shares with both his predecessors and his contemporaries. While there are those who claim he's nothing more than a clever amalgamation of Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan, there are others who swear he's made a fine art of hamming ('Darr's' K..K..K..Kiran being the classic example) and is yet to graduate beyond six set expressions.

However, there's one characteristic to Shah Rukh's personality that no one can even hope to match _ his boundless energy. You could be his worst critic, but whether he's guiding you through a mindless comedy like 'Duplicate' or an intense romance like 'Dil Se..' his own passion is infectious. It's something you cannot shrug off easily and it is, perhaps, the essence of his charisma.

The other attribute that sets him apart is his mind-boggling self-confidence. How else can you explain a small-time television actor from Delhi getting quick breaks like 'Deewana' (1992) and 'Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa' (1993) _ both won him high praise _ and then putting his newfound career on he line with a trilogy of negative characters. 'Baazigar' (1992), 'Darr' (1993) and 'Anjaam' (1994) were risks no established star would have taken _ in fact he got 'Darr' only after Aamir Khan turned it down.

But then, Shah Rukh has made no bones about the fact that he believes he's the best. It is this belief and a sensible decision to seek out respected names like Yash Chopra ('Darr', 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge' and 'Dil To Pagal Hai'), Subhash Ghai ('Trimurti' and 'Pardes') and Mani Ratnam ('Dil Se..) that has put him ahead of the competition. There's no disputing the fact that Shah Rukh Khan is the most saleable Bollywood star, both in India and overseas.

No wonder then that he decided to rake in the benefits of his own popularity by turning producer with 'Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani' (alongside co-star Juhi Chawla and director Aziz Mirza). While his labour of love (which was released two weeks ago) hasn't gone down well with audiences within the country, it has apparently secured a good opening in the international market _ where SRK has a loyal following amongst NRIs.

But such is Shah Rukh's stature today, that neither the success nor failure of any particular film is likely shake people's faith in him. 'King' Khan is here for a long and glorious innings that is just beginning to shape up.
